Beginning in 2025, St. Mary will offer an Immersion experience/Relational Mission Trip to Rwanda!
The dates of the trip will be announced well in advance. We expect the trip to include the following:
Building relationships, not constructing or fixing buildings or physical structures.
Living in “covenant relationship” with the people of Karangazi, Rwanda.
Visiting our neighbors’ homes, schools, and villages whereby we may share in the hopes and joys, struggles and fears of our Rwandan sisters and brothers.
Encountering the St. Mary ministries and initiatives that help the parishioners of our Rwanda Sisters Parish live a more dignified life.
Celebrating Mass and breaking bread as one Eucharistic family, brothers and sisters in Christ.
Visiting the sacred sites of the apparitions of Our Lady of Kibeho.
Exploring the complex history of Rwanda, its civil war, the Genocide of 1994, its poverty, and its challenges.
Exploring the many initiatives in Rwanda to build hope and harmony amongst all people for a brighter future.
Learning the culture, customs, and rich traditions of the Rwandan people.
Exploring the natural beauty of the countryside and its animal kingdom.
Growing in faith with God and one another.
Preparation meetings will be held to learn about the history, culture, and faith of the Rwandan people. These meetings will be mandatory so that we are best prepared for a fruitful and productive visit. The meetings will provide travelers with packing, practical, and helpful tips as well as allow the group to build camaraderie before departing. Please note: vaccinations are required for travel to Rwanda, and the cost of these vaccines will be at the expense of the traveler.
