Alicia Patel is a Teacher in the Four/Five Year Old classes. She holds a BA in Early Childhood Education from Youngstown State University and a Master’s in Education from Marygrove College. She taught kindergarten in Ohio and Michigan before having children.

She and her husband Niyant have three young children who have all attended St. Mary Preschool. Alicia has served on the Parent Preschool Board and is excited to be a part of the Preschool Staff. She enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

 
Why do you enjoy working with young children?

When I was 16, I spent my spring break helping in my mom’s three year old classroom. I was hooked! I knew that this was what I wanted to do with my life. I love the excitement and enthusiasm for learning that young children have. At this age children are learning new things each and everyday, and I love being a part of that!
 
What have young children taught you?

To have fun. Find joy in the little things. And a smile and a hug can really make a difference!
